We went hiking on the Emerald Outback Trails in Beech Mountain, NC. These trails opened in 2011 and updated in 2014 and sit at 5,400 elevation on top of Beech Mountain. The trails are all year trails for mountain biking, walking, and hiking in the summer and winter snowshoeing in the winter.
You can make a great day of this trail by visiting the town of Beech Mountain, maybe stopping at the Beech Mountain resort & grab a beer at the brewery, or taking the ski-lift up for some more fun!
Wondering why it’s called the Emerald Outback? It’s because the Land of Oz sits here. It only opens twice a year and you can read all about it here: Land of Oz Blog
